SIFTI Class
The SIFTI curriculum was designed and is taught through Ivy Tech Community College. The course is titled “An Introduction to Growing Commercial Vegetables,” and covers the basics of soils, food safety, root crops, vegetables, fruits, melons, and season extension. Class is 42 hours, which includes time in the classroom, web-based learning, and on-farm visits with a lab component.
The SIFTI program also expects time from our students to be spent attending regular meetings with our mentors. We provide extracurricular learning opportunities during these meetings, including presentations about business planning, food processing and distribution, and more.
