Southeastern Indiana Farmer Training Initiative

Students

Our pilot program includes 6 students, who range from their 30’s on up and come from career backgrounds including farming, landscaping, nursing, sales and investing.  One aspect all of our students have in common is their desire to produce vegetables on their farm, growing enough to supply our local institutions like the schools and hospital.

Students are expected to complete our 42 hour course, designed and taught by Ivy Tech Community College, which includes in-class time as well as on-farm lab sessions.  We also require our students to attend regular meetings with their cohort and mentors, building on their relationships and gaining from their collective questions and plans.

Interested in becoming a SIFTI student?  Our program is currently full, but we will be accepting applications for the 2018 class this fall.  Contact our program director for more information or to be placed on a notification list for when the application is available.
